The Paediatric Department provides medical and surgical services to children from birth till 12 years of age. The ward comprises of 38 in-patient beds, distributed as follows:

26 medical

8 surgical

4 high dependency

3 day-case beds

The Pediatric medical services offered are Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Immunology/ Allergy and Endocrinology.
The surgical services include General Surgery, Urosurgery, Orthopaedic, Eye, ENT, Neurosurgery and plastic surgery. The ward has a day case facility to allow preparation for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. A visiting Paediatric Cardiologist from the Prince Sultan Medical Center holds a regular paediatric cardiology clinic.

The Paediatric Clinic is situated in the Primary Care Clinic and provides ambulatory service to all children from birth to 12 years of age.
The clinic sees an average of 510 children each month between all specialties.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is fully equipped and staffed to handle severely premature babies of as low as 24 weeks gestation to term babies who may have severe systematic disorders or are in need of emergency surgical intervention due to Congenital Anomalies.

The 22 beds are allocated as follows:

4 isolation patients
8 SCBU patients
10 high dependency level patients

This unit has become a tertiary unit and accepts eligible referrals from around the western province that require acute or emergency care.
