The Respiratory Therapy Unit offers the following services to in-patients and out-patients:

  • Pulmonary Function Testing.
  • Ventilator Management in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Respiratory Therapy Treatments.
  • Oxygen Therapy.
  • Aerosol Therapy.
  • Ultrasonic Aerosol Therapy.
  • Outpatient Treatments.
  • Respiratory Therapy Patient Education.
  • A Sleep Laboratory

Services projected to commence within the next 6 months are:

  • Comprehensive Patient Assessments.
  • Polysomnography.

The recently refurbished and re-equipped unit now features Chiron RapidLab 865 blood gas machines, Jaeger Master Lab pro pulmonary function test machine, Siemens Servo 300A ventilators, Respironic BiPAP Vision support systems.

During 1999 the monthly average workload statistics for the unit were:

  • Arterial Blood Gases 1,600
  • Respiratory Treatments 1,900
  • Ventilator Hours 1,965
  • Support Procedures 5,760
