The Department of Medicine is comprised of:

the Medical Ward,
the Speciality Clinics,
the Endoscopy Unit,
the Neurodiagnostic Unit,
the Nephrology and Renal Dialysis Unit,
the Intensive Care Unit,
the Respiratory Therapy Unit.

The Medical Ward is a 44 bedded unit with 16 double rooms, one 8 bedded room, 2 isolation rooms and 2 VIP suites. Cases are received mostly from the Accident and Emergency Room and as elective admissions with some referrals from other hospitals.
The nursing system implemented on the ward is principally Primary Care Nursing with support from the Team Care approach as necessary. There are on average 110 admissions per month.

The Endoscopy Unit is equipped with Olympus scopes and diagnostic imaging equipment. Typical procedures are Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy and ERCP. There are on average 82 procedures per month.

The Neurodiagnostic Unit offers EEG, EMG, NCS, VEP, BAERP, SEP & F-response procedures. The unit has the facility for both static and portable EEG & EMG. Workload averages 115 procedures per month.
